Aurora Media Worldwide have been reappointed as host broadcast production partner in a multi-year agreement.
Aurora have been host broadcast partner for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since the inaugural Beijing E-Prix in 2014, producing more than 100 races from five different continents. Under this renewed contract, Aurora will create the international feed and global shoulder programmes.
Starting this season, Aurora is working in partnership with Gravity Media to pioneer a game-changing approach to producing live sports event coverage. By increasing remote production of all 16 races in Season 9 - from Round 1 in Mexico City in January to the season finale in London in July - Aurora and Gravity are reducing the environmental impact typical of major live international sports events on TV.
Aurora’s gallery team is based at Gravity’s new facility, The Production Centre at The Westworks in London, mastering the final show, adding onboard, RF, special cameras and all graphics and timing displays. The track cut team work on the outside broadcast at races, which this season included events in Cape Town, Hyderabad, São Paulo and Diriyah.
Aurora is recognised as a creator of innovative, formatted international live broadcasts, which are widely distributed around the world. Formula E’s live programming is taken by more than 60 international broadcasters. Aurora produces a hosted English language and separate international feed.
We are very proud of our association with Formula E over a decade and are delighted to extend our relationship. Season 9 has seen huge crowds, a new car, format and venues. It has been the perfect opportunity to showcase the next level of innovation and creativity in broadcast appropriate for a premium, hyper-modern World Championship. There is much more to do.
Formula E is the world’s first fully electric racing series and the only sport certified net zero carbon since inception. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship brings dramatic racing to the heart of some of the world’s most iconic cities providing an elite motorsport platform for the world’s leading automotive manufacturers to accelerate electric vehicle innovation.
Aurora are a creative, proven partner that have contributed to the successful growth of the Formula E fanbase. They have an end-to-end familiarity with the complex production workflow required at this level. They have worked closely with our team to push innovation in talent, cameras, graphics and data, since that first race in Beijing. We look forward to the next evolution of the show and creating more unforgettable, uniquely Formula E motor racing moments for viewers around the world.
Rome is the next stop in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with a double header of races on Saturday 15 July and Sunday 16 July – Rounds 13 and 14 in the 16-race season – before the finale in London two weeks later on Saturday 29 July and Sunday 30 July.
