Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and a brighter future.
At Aurora, sustainability is at our core; driving everything we do from storytelling to production processes. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. While we recognise that there's always more work to be done, we continually educate our employees and seek new ways to improve our sustainability.
We believe this is not only the right thing to do, but is essential for our industry's long-term success. Over the past year our aim was to super-charge our sustainability credentials in response to the increasing challenges of global climate change.
We're proud to support our team as they skilfully focus on sustainability while handling complex broadcasts often from remote and challenging locations around the world.
Sustainability Focus Areas
We are committed to accelerating our journey to becoming a carbon-neutral business, leading the way as a production agency with green credentials. Our focuses are:
- Driving industry standards in remote production workflow.
- Overhauling our approach to travel in the face of Production demands, including those unique to the Sports Industry.
- Placing an emphasis on Climate education and action in our editorial choices and our day-to-day operations.
- Working with suppliers who share our drive and passion for sustainability.
All our live host broadcast productions are in some shape, remote productions. For other projects we have a network of 100 trusted creators around the world.
Highlights from current productions are:
- Formula E Carbon footprint down 50%, freight down 40%, staff on site down 58%.
- Extreme E Onsite crew of 36-40 per race, this would normally be 100+ for a job of that scale. TV compound is powered by a green power grid, mix of solar and green hydrogen. 3rd race this season our output was carbon positive. We ByoB (Bring your own Bowls), which has resulted in saving 500,000+ single use pieces
- SailGP use a cloud-based solution allowing us to direct the Spanish Live Broadcast from the UK.
This innovation and passion has recently been acknowledged through the receipt of three industry sustainability awards and we will continue to inspire change and foster a deeper connection with our planet in all we do.
We are committed to setting industry standards by creating sustainable production solutions while consistently upholding high production values.
