OVERVIEW
In January 2022 Aurora became the first western production agency to produce the Al Fursan Endurance Cup in AlUla.
Endurance horse racing is like no other event we have ever covered. Horses and their riders cover a gruelling 120km in the Saudi Arabian desert. In total 200 riders from over 30 countries competed, the farthest competitors journeyed all the way from South America.
Starting at sunrise, competitors have to complete 4 laps of varying distances. Each horse wears a heart rate monitor and there are strict rules on the over exertion of the horse, if it is deemed a horse is being pushed to hard that horse is removed from the race.

It was our job as a producer to capture not only the stories of the race, but the welfare of the horses and the extensive team that cares for them. We had to breakdown to rules and regulations of the sport for the viewer, making this unique competition easier to understand. Another key part of the broadcast was to showcase AlUla as a destination and articulate the equine history and culture in the region.

We also helped the Royal Commission for AlUla to distribute the programming, with 12 broadcasters taking the world feed. In previous years this has only been shown locally.
