This weekend saw new season openers for both Nitrocross and SailGP in the USA
The freshly rebranded Nitrocross kicked things off at the MidAmerica Outdoors track in Oklahoma. Creator Travis Pastrana’s dream track included a massive descending start, radical jumps and huge banks, all topped with searing heat to test the teams to their limits.
Fraser McConnell, the ‘flying Jamaican’ took the win in the first round of 10 in this new season.
It’s been great to be back with the presentation team Jarod DeAnda, Andrew Coley and Katie Osbourne again and the whole Nitrocross team. We can't wait to see how the action plays out in Salt Lake City, Utah on 18th-19th August
From the dusty conditions of Oklahoma we travelled two states north to the fresh water of Lake Michigan for the opening race of Season 4 for SailGP.
The unpredictable winds of Chicago created tricky racing conditions for the teams, who delivered a real display of tactics and skill to get the boats across the course.
After a gusty start to the weekend, it was gold for the New Zealand SailGP Team who navigated light winds on Sunday with perfect positioning and tactical nous to seize the first victory of Season 4.
The 10-strong F50 fleet will next meet at the Oracle Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix, which gets underway on July 22-23.
