Electric Odyssey is Extreme E’s 20-part Magazine Show that covers storylines that go far beyond the racing.
As a live sports broadcast proposition Extreme E is a unique, with only 5 races throughout the year there are gaps in the calendar. Electric Odyssey plugs those holes and keeps the narrative of the series running throughout the year.
Electric Odyssey goes far beyond what is happening on track. The stories focus on climate issues, solutions and champions Extreme E’s passion and dedication to raising awareness, driving change and leaving last legacies everywhere the series touches.
Our producers search hard for stories from local people, communities, and NGOs, giving them a platform to tell their story of climate change and how it directly affects them.
The drivers are important contributors to the series. The faces of the racing championship, they’ve also signed up to increase their knowledge and use their status and platform to affect change. We push the drivers out of their comfort zones, meeting people outside of their bubble and exposing them to real life situations and problems that are happening all over the world. The raw emotion that comes with being exposed to moments they wouldn’t normally experience in their normal day to day, is a powerful asset.

The Extreme E Science Committee is a wonderful group of individuals, all highly intelligent and passionate. As an overall series we rely on the science and data, they inform all of our editorial decisions and help to shape our storylines. The scientists are very good at simplifying key climate issues and solutions, which is key to engaging other audiences outside of their academic echo chamber.
Technology is one of the key editorial pillars of the series. We go behind the scenes with the engineers of the Odyssey21 vehicle, other manufacturers of electric vehicles, and the technical components that are pushing the electric revolution forwards. This is another key message behind the racing series, how it is a testbed for commercial vehicles and the concept of ‘race to road’.
